I painted the original "Wetlands" a couple of years ago in oil,and I just finished this in pastel. Wanted to revisit this in a different medium..It's pastel on homemade surface-foamboard gessoed then I applied acrylic pastel ground. Saw this formula on Karen Margulis' blog. That's what inspired me to revisit this painting-Karen suggests revisiting older paintings with fresh eyes and a different medium.
Available for 215.
6" x 8" oil on canvas panel butterfly on a yellow dandelion. This was originally on a blue back round with a bowl and a lemon. It got to be too much,so I scraped off everything except the butterfly and simplified the back round -making it a little fuzzy so the focal point would be more on the butterfly.
My Mom and I go here sometimes-it's the Carney's in Studio City. It's a hot dog/burger place inside a real train..very cool! This is pastel in Art Spectrum Colourfix sanded paper. 9" x 7"
Another artist Molly Brose in the Artist's magazine wrote about using Yupo paper with watercolor,so I tried it..it is quite fun once you get used to it..you can literally wipe off paint and it doesn't buckle! How great is that?..But..still ..you wipe paint off...sometimes it does't stay...so you have to play with it...I added a glaze and black china markers..so this is "Maddie" a friend's doggie..watercolor ,china marker on Yupo paper.
Just completed this small study in Sepia watercolor on Fabriano watercolor paper. On our last visit to the Getty I took some photos..(the ones I was allowed of course.).of some beautiful sculptures that now I wish I had written down the names.Working on my quick tonal sketches..
Finally finished this 5" x 7" oil on canvas panel..I'm working on a series like this..whiskey in shot glasses, mini bottles of liquor...this is a little "Gentleman Jack" from my boyfriend's favorite whiskey.."Gimme a Shot".Need to do more of these "one a day" ones..just took a while to get the right photo. Donated to Private Collection.
After reading how artists George James and Jeannie McGuire are creating beautiful watercolors (some mixed with other mediums too) on Yupo paper , I knew I had to go out and buy some! This is watercolor, china marker and pencil on Yupo paper..in progress."Maddie".The paper is super smooth, you can literally wash off color and start over...so much fun ..and takes some work too...
A commission I just delivered...I saw an article in one of the artist's magazines on oil painting paper by Arches,so I went out and bought it-it's great! This is a 22" x 30" oil on oil painting paper..Calla Lillies and Tulips.I took an idea from one of Richard Schmid's paintings for the bluish back round from one of his floral paintings.
This is a 5" x 7" oil on canvas panel..I collect the miniature liquor bottles after they've been enjoyed by my boyfriend and me...Donated to Private Collection.
6" x 8" oil on masonite..our wonderful neighbors made cupcakes one night and brought us some..so yummy! They looked so pretty I had to paint one of them.

I'm still working on this mailchimp-newsletter thing,so bear with me..lol..still haven't figured it all out yet.
This is pastel on sanded Art Spectrum colorfix pastel paper. The LA river runs through Sherman Oaks, and I've been noticing how pretty parts of it are at certain times of the day when the light is just right. This was after it had rained a little ..a little bit of sun going down behind the trees in the far distance..11.5 x 14.5
I just finished this mural yesterday, and Dan helped me with the" grunt work" as he likes to call it(prep). It's 15 ft x 7 ft. on the wall in the entry way of the Western Costume company. It took 3 full days to complete.
